FROM FARM TO CUP

A great tea is like a fine wine - each a masterpiece created in hand by nature, farming practices and skills of tea makers.

We have spent over a decade laying down the foundation of strong relations with our tea farmers. Together with them we are offering some of the rarest finds in the Japanese tea world, even our basic line is comprised of limited single estate harvests. Unlike traditional tea merchants in Japan, we NEVER blend any teas. All our “blends” come out from a single estate each, respecting what each tea master put into it.

Harashima Estate

Masashi-san, the head of the estate, represents the third generation of the Harashima family as tea farmers, tending to tea fields first planted by his grandfather and processing all his teas himself.

His concept is very close to RAVE's - he considers tea to be similiar to wine, and employs his growing & tea-making skills to fully express each varietal's potential. He is also the pioneer of GABA tea manufacturing, perfecting his craft for almost 40 years - from the very first days the technology to enrich tea with GABA was discovered.
